Rebelling the ordinary – Refilwe Nong
My name is Refilwe Nong, only a year ago this name meant nothing to me and to those around me. I was unemployed and doing mediocre once off tasks for people. I especially remember receiving a message from the CEO of Launchit International, Mr. Goitsemang Khutsafalo on Facebook. Apparently he had a major project for me from a high paying client. A logo he said, worth 100 thousand Pula.
This attracted me to his office and I remember developing a logo hoping to get this lucrative payout. Only for me to realise that there was no client and no big money payout. Mr Khutsafalo only wanted to show me what he had already suspected. That I am clearly not aware of necessary processes towards dealing with high value clients. From this experience alone, I was drawn to his teachings and soon joined his diamond stars mentorship program. A program that opened my eyes to a world of business, a world of building networks and using them to my advantage.
The diamond stars program helped to nurture and build my confidence in a secure and safe environment. I was given opportunities to be Master of Ceremonies at some sessions, learning my way into building my communication skills whilst also getting comfortable with standing in front of people. The mentorship program was a year long program and through it, I realised that if ever my life was to change, I was the person to make it change.
The program helped me to explore my skills, talents but most importantly, it helped me to realise that talents can be turned into paying careers. For as long as I could remember, I always loved creating things and for this reason, I was always attracted to creative design. The program helped me to focus my attention on building myself up as a brand consultant and in realising that I could turn it into a life long paying career.
I used all the skills I learned form the program, coupled with the networks i built and started my design journey from there. It was tough, but each time I couldn’t do something, I always contacted Mr Khutsafalo for guidance. Today I am entirely confident in what I do and have worked with some great individuals and companies. Helping them tell their brand stories like before.
I can attribute my journey to a lot of things, but the foundation of it all was built at the DIAMOND STARS PROGRAM by the CEO of Launchit International, Mr. Goitsemang J. Khutsafalo. He is a gentleman entirely concerned about seeing youth progress in life. I am a true testimony to his great efforts.
My name is Refilwe Nong. I am a proud Brand Consultant here in Botswana.
